“Not Eaten, New In Box.”
People will sell anything on ebay. From Michael Jackson’s underwear to a cornflake shaped like Illinois, there’s a myriad of odd-ball treasures waiting to be discovered.
Now added to that list is the chicken McNugget, which bears a resemblance to former president George Washington (pictured above and below).
The nugget was found by Rebekah Speight of Dakota City and was sold on ebay for over £5,000 ($8,100), when the auction ended on Monday to an unnamed bidder.
Speight discovered the nugget three years ago, after taking her children to McDonald’s. She was about to throw the final nugget away when she spotted its likeness and stashed it in her freezer (the obvious thing to do).
According to the Sioux City Journal in Iowa, USA, Speight sold it to raise $15,000 and send 50 children to summer church camp in Sioux City.
eBay had temporarily taken down the auction last month because it violated rules regulating expired food. Speight later received an email saying the site was “willing to make exceptions to help your cause.”
On the auction page for the McNugget Speight wrote: “By bidding on this rare President George Washington Chicken McNugget…not only will you have an opportunity to be the new owner of this rare find, but you will be investing in the lives of children.”
Ladies and gentlemen…The Beer Moth. This bizarre truck conversion is now ready for letting, following a stint as the B&B (Bed & Buckfast) stage at the 2011 Insider Festival.
Walter, the creator of the Inshriach Yurt, has truly excelled himself in his seemingly never ending quest for a renovation challenge. Having liberated this 1956 Conmer Q4 from the Manston Fire Museum in Kent and wrestled it back to Inshriach House, he has quite literally raised the roof (by a foot). Then he laid an oak parquet floor rescued from a Tudor mansion, salvaged snooker table slate to make a hearth and a fire escape for a staircase.
The Beer Moth now also sports a completely over the top Victorian double bed, the door from one of the (now presumably a little drafty) cottages at the farm, and the former back wall of the doghouse. The mahogany plinth has been replaced with a wood-burner, the inexplicable stuffed squirrel has vacated the premises, and the cutting edge of unusual places to stay has been an immediate hit with its first fortunate (and slightly bemused) guests.
Pretty cool, and it’s starts from only £60 a night! Find out more HERE.
Being the film buffs that we are, we found this collection of the ‘10 Movie Poster Cliches’ hysterical.
The above is a collection of ‘back to back’ posters, but check out all 10 cliches, including ‘through the legs’, and even ‘big heads in the sky over tiny people on a beach’ over at 22 Words.
Now, we don’t like to think of ourselves as overly impatient types but when it comes to the interminable wait that accompanies an oven pizza, we can usually be found frantically pacing the kitchen.
But it seems that our pizza-related prayers have been answered. Those food geniuses at Marks & Spencer have created the Pizza Toastie, which yes, is as brilliant as it sounds.
The £2 snack is ready in just four minutes after being placed into your usually rather one-note toaster. The pizzas have a pre-baked base and come in special pockets to prevent the total chaos of cheese going everywhere. Unlike the microwave equivalent, there’s no sogginess either.
The pizzas come in two flavours: margherita and spicy pepperoni.
M&S: yet again, we, and probably millions of people, thank you.
